Hydrography at CNR

The Rhône, king river, has been from Antiquity a commercial, political and cultural link between Mediterranean sea and the North countries keeping it’s tumultuous nature of an alpine’s river and often described as an untameable river. The majority wrongly asserts that it is now "harnessed" but we should better say "managed" according to energy, navigation and irrigation issues. Concerning the river management, which has to be absolutely perfect, the navigation aspect of the CNR's specification is partly assumed by the Frederic Mistral, a vessel equipped with advanced technology but still perfectible which allows carrying out survey mission of the Rhone River bed from Lyon to the Mediterranean sea.
