International Autonomous Surface Symposium (ASSS 2008)
This article describes advanced functions available today in the field of Marine Unmanned Surface Vessels. In particular, an examination of USV potential missions and associated needs in terms of autonomy, dynamic control and USV fleet cooperation will be made. Missions in littoral environment require USV motion control and advanced navigation capabilities. A detailed review of dynamic control functionalities including physical modelling of the USV and developed by SIREHNA will be made: Dynamic Positioning, obstacle avoidance and wave management functions. These functions allow improving the level of autonomy of the USV s to expand their operational capabilities and to envisage USV fleet operations. Finally, functionalities associated to future USV missions will be presented: USV fleet management, multi-USV cooperation, USV -UA V cooperation.
