International Autonomous Surface Symposium (ASSS 2008)
This article will present all the developments that have been made within the field of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) by SIREHNA and its partners for the last fifteen years. In 1993, SIREHNA begins to work in the field of marine USV, for the French Ministry of Defense (DGA), by developing a robot kit for marine platforms. In 2000, the robot kit is operational and on a jetski basis, RODEUR becomes the first French marine USV. Because of this experience, SIREHNA joins the French-American-Singaporean program SPARTAN, which aims to develop USVs on the basis of 7m and 11m RHIBs for anti-submarine warfare and anti-mine warfare. For this project, SIREHNA is responsible for the development of advanced dynamic control functionalities: Hovering, Wave Management and Collision Avoidance. In 2006, SIREHNA decides to develop its own multi-mission USV: RODEUR. On a 9.2m, 2 x 350Hp and 1.5t payload RHIB basis adapted to future FREMM frigates, RODEUR is a demonstrator particularly adapted to various civilian and military missions. Waiting for future French USV projects such as DUBM 44 or cooperation projects, SIREHNA presently studies payload integration and advanced functions for specific missions.
