Pipeline j-lay tower on the Acergy Polaris derrick lay barge

The ACERGY Group an offshore oil contractor owns approximately thirty-five naval units (barges and tugboats). The group, having chosen to specialise in harsh environments, deep water depths and technological challenges, decided to adapt barge ACERGY POLARIS to these new objectives. After a setting in dynamic positioning, the group invested in the replacement of the pipeline J-Lay tower. This communication presents this new tool, in particular the directional vertical tower, and concludes on the first works completed with this tool.
