A structural analysis and a flow problem compose a complete modelling of oil-spill boom. These two fluids and solid problems interact. The oil and water flow around the vicinity of the boom is studied by a numerical model and experimental tests in a towing tank. The structural analysis is done using the finite–element method and a non-linear membrane element. The Elorn river boom contingency plan is presented. The boom plan is studied in its real environment of the Brest bay. The modelling is able to provide detailed results in every part of the boom. The research presented is issued from the project SIMBAR of the research network RITMER.
