GIFT: a floating terminal for LNG imports

The « GIFT » concept concerns an offshore floating terminal designed to offload LNG carriers, to store, vaporize and send natural gas to shore through a sub-sea pipeline. The terminal can be oriented by transversal thrusters and is fitted with horizontal skirts, in order to create a sheltered area on the leeside of the terminal, allowing berthing the LNG carriers alongside. The project is financed by the European Commission.
