BOURBON, a new emerging world maritime company

The paper presents how, starting from a sugar making company based in the Reunion, BOURBON became one of the leading companies in modern offshore. Following the historical since its origin to now day, the strategic plans 2003-2007, then horizon 2010 are presented. Then the key factors of success are analysed, in particular the importance given to the safety and human resources. In conclusion, at horizon 2010, BOURBON objective is to become the world leader in modern offshore, but following the development of its activities in harbour and salvage towing as well as the activities of specialist in maritime logistic services for bulk products.
