DGA Hydrodynamic developed a model test set-up to simulate weapons launches from a torpedo tube in a moving submarine.
This test system was studied by DGA TH and then constructed on the basis of the Barracuda submarine hullform.
In 2013, in the large towing tank « Émile Barrillon » held a first set of tests in which different launching conditions and different weapons were studied.
This paper describes the launch system used to simulate the action of the pneumatic real one. The ejection phase studied in these trials starts from the beginning of the ejection of the weapon to the moment when the weapon own propulsion system is actuated.
Particular attention was given to the measurement of the weapons trajectories. Two nearly redundant systems have been operated.
Despite the important size of the model and its weight, test device was used with high productivity and many shots have been made
