A very frequently quoted ratio which has never, to our knowledge, received any formal contestation yet, is the 80% human errors origin in registered accidents at sea.
The analysis of the studies on the subject performed during the last decade allow the University of Aalborg (Denmark) to published the following figure which demonstrate the importance with respect to human behaviours played by the companies organisation and policy:
The ISM Code and the STCW Convention can be therefore considered as the main tools in the Maritime Transport's domain, which concern the human issues and take them specially into account.
