The safely of life at sea has been and still is a major preoccupation of the Classification Societies.

For many reasons the maritime safely aspect knows presently new approach, especially in regard to the hum an approach.

The Classification Societies are aware of this, and in that respect take into account the works of IMO to which they participate.

In that respect two Documents appear to be of a particular interest : the ISM CODE and the STCW CONVENTION
