During the 2020 Covid crisis, the SSF had to test remote assistance solutions to compensate for the ban on sending experts offshore for inspections due to the interruption of air travel during the crisis. These palliative solutions demonstrated the relevance and maturity of remote assistance tools. Following the crisis, several systems were experimented. The Picomto solution was more particularly tested by SSF in collaboration with the SLM and was the subject of two preliminary experiments in autumn 2022 and from summer 2023. An operator equipped with Realware glasses and a tablet is guided step by step through a maintenance or repair procedure by an expert who remains in his office. As part of the "Tangaroa" project decided in December 2023, which aims to promote certain solutions of ship support for the ship in a state of "War Economy" and/or "High Intensity", it was decided to scale up on several subjects, including remote maintenance. The deployment of the Picomto solution is underway mainly for support to overseas bases (Mayotte, Nouméa, Tahiti, La Reunion, French Guyana).
The article presents the Picomto system and some application cases, then concludes with the objective of the ongoing scaling process.
