The presentation reminds the principles which are at the basis of the safety analysis of commercial aircrafts, principles which have evolved with time.

The safety objectives for commercial aeronautical products are highlighted as well as the methods for demonstrating the conformity of the product with these objectives. An aircraft is nowadays composed of numerous systems which interfere, this fact leading to the necessity of enforcing precise and complex analysis procedures for demonstrating that catastrophy is extremely improbable.
