IP migration of the radiocommunication coastal stations
Philippe BECQUET, PRESCOM SAD

Migration from analog and / or digital leased lines between radio stations and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCC) to IP links requires changes of the radiocommunication system of the coast stations. This paper presents the main features of a telecommunication access switching and control equipment, requirements and benefits of a solution based on radio gateways associated with the resources of radio stations.
Watchkeeping comfort for operators is preserved by harmonizing transmission delays and cancelling echoes introduced by the recovery between radio stations.
IP migration facilitates the sharing of (VHF, MF and HF) maritime and (VHF) aeronautical radio resources, and services [radio, DSC, automatic broadcast of Maritime Safety Information (MSI), NAVTEX, interconnection of data terminal with radio resources ...] between several MRCC.
The scalability of the telecommunication access switching and control equipment is also presented in this paper.
