This paper deals with the stability criteria suggested by the I.M.O. for fishing vessels. Specifically, analytical expressions providing the various stability indices according to the geometrical characteristics and load conditions of fishing vessels were obtained by means of regression analysis applied to the Ridgely-Nevitt series. The above polynomial expressions are an important tool for the fishing vessel designer as they enable him to rapidly verify I.M.O. stability criteria, for the various load conditions, during the early stages of the design phase, i.e. even before designing the vessel.
