Sea-trials of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier crewed model

To tune and to evaluate the automatic steadying and steering system for platform motions (SATRAP) designed for the future Nuclear powered Aircraft carrier, the Bassin d'Essais des Carènes had to follow a sea-trials compain onboard a crewed light scale model.

After having described the main characteristics of this model and of its measurement equipment, the different types of tests accomplished during the june 87 to april go campain will he detailed and the genera results will be introduced.

In a second part a method to identify coefficients of a manoeuvrability model from both seatrials and tank trials will be more precisely explained. This identification has been made necessary for the tuning of the stabilized girations procedures.

We may notice that the description of theses procedures and of steadying system is the subject of an other paper presented during this present session.
