Does it exist another mean than painting to protect the sea water ballast from corrosion?

After having recalled corrosion reactions and the main parameters acting on them, means of protection for ballasts are investigated. Those in current use, such as coatings, paintings or other, as well as those lithe or not at all used, such as catholic protection and sea water inhibition.

Systems associating the latter with an atmosphere of low oxygen content is the technological answer to the question, answer strengthened in the economic field. Without having an all-purpose use, solutions of substitution associating anodes or inhibitors with an environment of low oxygen conlent prove less expensive than painting
