A study of electrochemical corrosion characteristics in artificial sea water was made with carbides coatings (Cr3C2 -Ni -Cr, WC -Co) applied by plasma (APS, VPS) or Jet -Kote spraying.
Corrosion behavior of coatings depends on the metallic binder passivity. Deposition techniques used occur as a function of structural modifications induced in the powders.
These tests were fol1owed by a study of galvanic corrosion of coatings coupled to different materials (copper alloys, stainless steel, nickel or cobalt base alloys, carbon -epoxy composite).
