Proposal on technological deflection tolerances for steel panels of a ship side shell
T.JASTREBSKI, Docteur-Ingénieur, Adjoint au Chef du Département de Construction et Mécanique, Institut Naval de l'Université de Szczecin, Pologne
This paper is the final report on the research dealing with ship plate deflections, conducted at the Naval Institute in Szczecin from 1980 to 1986. It presents a synthesis of the
research carried out in respect of ship plate admissible deflection criteria, such as: strength criteria, technological criteria and operational criteria. The results of statistical analysis of deflections as measured in shipyards are also commented. Based on these analyses, a new proposal on technological deflection tolerances for a vessel's shell plates was prepared. This proposal is different from the standards used up to now in shipyards.
