Feasibility study of an immersed dredger adapted for small depth
Dr.Ing. J.L. J. MARCHAL, Maître de Recherches F.N.R.S. Agrégé de 1 'Enseignement Supérieur L.H.C.H., Université de Liège
This paper concerned with the general description of a new type of dredger.
Due to the wave action, the usual floating dredgers have a limited efficiency. The proposed new dredger is able to work during a much longer time each year because it is not working in a floating position. It is composed by a spherical underwater structure moving on the sea bottom and surmounted by a 3.5 m diameter cylindrical tube which is termined by a superstructure.
All the machinery is located in the underwater structure.
Several figures of this paper show details about the different parts of the dredger.
Diagrams define the pressures exerted by the dredger on the sea bottom due to its weight and the external environmental forces.
