CHANTIERS DE L'ATLANTIQUE have been developing for a longtime computer programs in their drawing offices and steel cutting workshops, such as SICEN and AUTOKON CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) codes for the steel structure representation. The recent purchase of an INTERGRAPH interactive graphics system is a new step which extends the application of CAD to other fields of ship design. This results in a progressive trend toward a completely integrated system.

Examples are given of some main CAD utilizations.
