A numerical model to compute the wave action on underwater structures

We define in this paper a numerical model, which, instead of a simple analysis of the free surface effects, allows us to formulate their evolution, just like a laboratory wave generator. This finite difference method doesn't approximate the free surface effects : its complexity is located in the elaboration of the needed sub-programmes necessary to compute the variable boundary conditions.
A few cases of solicitations on underwater structures are examined. This investigation puts new light on such solicitations and replaces some of the empirical formulas.
