The GICAN, the French Marine Industry Association, affiliates more than 210 industrialists in the maritime industry. It brings together shipyards, system and equipment manufacturers, subcontractors, engineering and architect businesses that are involved in the design, construction, maintenance and implementation of military and civilian vessels, and those who work in the domain of maritime security and Marine Renewable Energies.
The GICAN has three main missions which are to defend the maritime industry interests, to promote the French technological and industrial expertise and to sustain the harmonious development and the competitiveness of the naval industry.
Also, since 2018, the GICAN is member of the "Comité Stratégique de Filière des Industriels de la Mer" (CSF IM) with EVOLEN for the OiL&Gaz, of the FIN for the nautical industry, and of the SER for the renewable energies. The CSF IM connects the industries with the State for four large strategic axis: Employment/formation/competencies, Exportation, company numerical transition, R&D and innovation.
