The response at sea to pollution by oils leads to the development of numerous projects. The retrofit of the Landing Ships Carrier "DRAGE" consists in using its very large hold to house the equipment necessary for recovery, treatment and storage of the spilt oils.
Moreover, significant handling appliances are provided such as a one hundred ton capacity gantry crane. Thus, the ship has the capability to work without assistance up to offloading operations at sea or in a harbour.
Finally, it can be used for other purposes. For instance, it is able to pick-up floating objects and carry bulky and heavy loads by removing its modular equipment.
