This paper presents an overview of mains results obtained in adhesive bonded studies for shipbuilding applications and particularly for the composites structures. Damage mechanisms have been studied as a function of: static and fatigue loadings, environment (temperature, humidity) and coupling effects between mechanical loading and environment. Finally, relationship between sample tests and the structure solicitations are discussed. The conclusion indicates needs and orientations for future research to improve the confidence of the shipbuilding industry in such techniques.
