The new oceanographic research vessel Marion Dufresne is equiped with a big depth sarnpling high-performance installation.
Using inovative winches, big depth sarnpling equipment called « SIAMOIS" {Sub-marine Investigation and Oceanologic Aft Manipulation Integrated System) and « ILOT » {Oceanology Portside Light Installation) have been built to be used with ararnid ropes, which are more appropriate for big depth sampling than steel ropes.
The Ship has several scientific acoustic transducers under the hull. Transducer installation bas been studied with the respect of main ideas as simplicity and modularity. According to their function, transducers are mounted on welded support below the buU, or on movable appendages fixed by screws under the shell.
