To face at all stages of the ship design process, the important question of accurate predictions of performances, the naval architects must have at their disposed a set of various prediction tools.
For the conceptual design, when only general dimensions are available, the predictions are based on simple empirical formula. At the other end, final predictions come generally from model tests.
