Evaluation of an expert system generator for ship structure verification

After a review of the main particularities of expert systems outlining the differences with more classical algorithm1c softwares, the paper deals with the SE development methods. Then the selection of an expert system generator is considered, providing information on criteria and methodology to analyse products proposed on the market The synthesis of the evaluation of 7 generators is provided as result.

The paper ends on the analysis of the works done to try to develop two small size expert systems in ship structure verifications with details on the encountered difficulties, which allows to propose a methodology for future works.
