This paper presents a study carried out by IRCN on a passengers ship in order to
determine the vibration levels of the structure. The aim for the shipyard, was to answer the request of the ship owner vibration levels on board this kind of ship having to be low.
In this paper we shall insist on a particular aspect of the study :
The fluid-structure interaction has been solved using three-dimensional semi-infinite elements model of the added mass water which has been coupled with the major pan of the hull structure nodes in contact with the water.
This 3D model has been used to calculate the hyctrodynamic mass matrix Which haS been added to the structure mass matrix to obtain the modal characteristics of the coupled system.
