Naval constructions has early exhibited a great interest in the field of these strange materials known as Composite Materials.
This paper indents the following :
In a first part, to sum up the main characteristics of these materials and the use limitations imposed par naval constructions .
In a second part to under line the increased use of composite materials in military naval construction. This is carried out through a chronological inventory of the principal realisations from the first 9 m long vedette built in DCAN CHERBOURG in 1958 to ERIDAN mine-chaser launched in LORIENT in 1979 and radome for radar antennas designed and built by OCAN TOULON .
At last the shell building of a mine-chaser is shown.
