Modern method for the certification of deepwater fixed platforms structures
P. HESSE M.LEMPIRE J.KANHOLM, Ingénieurs, Division Technologie Océanique du Bureau Veritas
The exploration of deeper and deeper oil and gas fields to installation of large fixed platforms of more than 20.000 tons for which the usual methods applied by the Certifying Authorities and based on deterministic and simplified models are no more sufficient.
This paper describes modern methods of analysis of such structures which allow to secure their safety. Particular attention is given to probabilistic methods and dynamic analysis. A fatigue analysis will be the leading thread of the present study.
An example of application to a North Sea platform.
