Some examples of problems encountered in painting protection of French navy's ships.
B.LOISEAU, Attaché aux Services Techniques des Armées DCAN Toulon
Marine environment agressivity against ship structures requires unceasing research to found new measures for their protection.
The Direction Technique des Constructions Navales (1) (D.T.C.N.) have brought out several inventive solutions for very specific problems of this protection.
The D.T.C.N.'s politic consists in buying paints according to its own standards and formulas. To illustrate this politic, the present paper describes some solutions as antifouling paints, fly-deck coating (in laboratory tests) , high thickness paints and high-performance paints for surface effect ships.
Facilities for these researchs are also described.
