On the optimum propeller problem with cavitation-limiting restraint
J.L.GUERMOND, Ingénieur Civil du Génie Maritime Stagiaire de Recherche Bassin d’Essais des Carènes
The preliminary propeller design problem is presented as an optimum problem with restraints and numerically solved using the polynomial expressions of thrust and torque coefficients with Reynolds number corrections for various propeller series. The value of blade area ratio, advance coefficient and pitch ratio are solved for optimum propeller efficiency, taking into account some given particulars like absorbed power or speed of revolution,
and cavitation.
Using this computer program, the designer can easily calculate the main characteristics of a ship adapted propeller.
