Substitutes of asbestos base thermal insolating

Asbestos is still useful for the production of a large number of thermic insurants in naval constructions. We remind of origin, properties and dangers of this material, as well as dispositions of effective french's legislation in the scope of asbestos utilisation.

We suggest some criteria meant for furthering of substitutes’ selection. We de scribe examinations and tests practised for this purpose at ECAN INDRET.

We quote standard texts partly stemmed from these investigations, ruling definition, purchase conditions and utilisation of thermic insulants substituted for asbestos within DTCN.
