Supply mix multi-hulls particularities
S. LANGEVIN, Président de l'Institut Français des Architectes Navals
Sail-assisted work boats present various advantages compared to more conventional designs. A large work space, increased stability, and the energy savings achievable, in particular, serve to explain the current interest in such concepts. Experience gained from offshore racing has enabled a refinement in the design of work multihulls. This type of ship exhibits specific characteristics, in particular concerning the pitching and the efficient use of propulsion means. Those points are explicited in the present paper and its appendices.
This type of ship is revolutionary, and requires an extremely rigorous and careful design in order to be able to convince the marine profession.
