A short method for computation of tank natural frequency

The paper proposes a short method for computing the natural frequency of a partially filled two-dimensional fluid tank, without using a computer program. That method exploits the idea that relevant phenomena to be taken into account depend an the fluid level in the tank: at law levels, the fluid moves as a whole and standard computation procedures apply ; at high levels, it is tentatively admitted that the natural period equals the two ways running time of a surface perturbation travelling from one edge of the tank to the other and an explicit formula is given.
Comparison of prediction by that method with same experimental results shows encouraging agreement.
