The existence of vortex wake in the flow past a circular cylinder is well known. The alternate vortex shedding is likely to cause damages to the cylindrical structures. So there is some interest to study means to disorganize the vortex shedding and to diminish their effects. One of these means consists in shrouds around cylinders. The present work is an experimental study of the significant parameters involved in the phenomenon.
It is pointed out that the D/d rate relating to flow confinement and the shroud screen effect are important Parameters.
