Last year, we presented at the A.T .F1.A. meeting a paper called : "The Generalized Lagally's Theorem and its Applications to Naval Hydrodynamics".

The aim of the present paper is to answer to the two following criticisms which were formulated during the discussion :

-we didn't talk about Lagally's theorem applied to a floating hull

-we didn't present numerical results.

We propose here a paper which shows the practical interest of Lagally's theorem. The example chosen is the calculation of drift forces in regular waves. First, we established very easily the drift forces expression, suppressing practically the risk of error due to the calculation of second order forces with a first order theory. After, we demonstrate that the drift force horizontal components and the drift moment vertical component have the same formulation whether the body pierces the free surface or not. At the end, we compare our results and those of the Maruo-Newman formulation to the experimental results for two bodies (a parallelepiped body and a ship).
